Michael J. Hawrylak
Technology Director
Michael Hawrylak brings a unique blend of military discipline, technical mastery, and entrepreneurial drive to his role as Technology Director for the Astronautics Institute (A.I.). A U.S. Coast Guard veteran who served as both a Maritime Enforcement Specialist and Boatswain’s Mate from 2005 to 2010, Michael’s early career was forged in high-stakes environments, honing his leadership, problem-solving, and mission-first mindset.
Following his service, Michael pursued Aeronautical Science studies and soon transitioned into the technology sector, founding his own web design company in Florida before joining EPIC Flight Academy as Technology Coordinator. There, he built an entire IT department from the ground up—rebuilding over 100 workstations, deploying solar-powered flight line camera stations, designing and installing security and access control systems, and managing a network serving 100+ employees and 300+ students.

In 2020, Michael co-founded Aviation Training Foundation with Steven Hawrylak, producing high-quality flight simulators and generating over $1.2 million in sales. Today, he serves as Project Lead at Freight Runners Express in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, overseeing the development of an EMB-120 Brasilia full-flight simulator valued between $1.2 and $1.5 million—an endeavor that reflects his proven ability to turn visionary concepts into fully operational systems.

A lifelong aviation and space enthusiast, Michael is both a licensed pilot and an avid flight simulation expert. His passion for engineering and aerospace innovation fuels his commitment to AIT’s mission: preparing the next generation of technicians for the rapidly evolving commercial space sector. Over the course of his career, he has negotiated and led projects ranging from six-figure deals to contracts in the eight-figure range, earning a reputation as a decisive, results-driven leader.
